5 MUST-DOs for Students Before School Starts: The Ultimate Guide

Hey friend!!

August: the month where you soak up the remaining summer and set yourself up for a successful school year.

The motto for this period of summer before school starts is … balance. By balancing summer activities and school preparations –  from vacation to math summer work – you get the best of both worlds: enjoying your last month of summer while getting a leg up on academics.

So, here are  the top five things you can do now to make the rest of summer and start of the school year your bestie.

  1. Do school prep throughout the month

Have you ever experienced this the first few days of the school year are blossoming with excitement as you reunite with your friends. but, by the second week you already have a math test and an English essay.

That is precisely why it is a phenomenal idea to start  preparing for school during August. Slowly doing summer assignments over the course of August or starting to learn the first unit of a class through websites like Khan Academy can make you not only more in control of your academics, but improve your grades.

Finally, it’s easy to experience summer learning loss. When school starts, you may find yourself in need of some serious review! Since reviewing material is inevitable, you might as well do it sooner rather than later because the sooner you do it, the more you still remember, and the less you’ll need to ultimately review.

  1. Cook cool meals

If you’re like me and find whipping meals, snacks, and desserts up in the kitchen to be fun, relaxing, and rewarding, now is the perfect time to cook!

Not only do you have the extra time on your hands due to summer break, get to romanticize your life through cooking, and have some fun, but cooking now can help you discover new favorite recipes, which you could prepare for breakfast before school. So, if you wake up at the last possible minute to make it to class on time, this can help you satisfy morning hunger and your brain and body to take on the day 💪💪

Personally, I want to experiment with breakfast smoothies, whip up yummy fluffy ricotta pancakes, and maybe try cooking brownies without a recipe!

  1. Pick one habit to implement
